Turf is easy. The 100mm underneath isn't
Anybody can unroll turf. Whether it's still a good lawn in three years comes down to what's under it — compaction broken up, weed and stone removed, levels graded so there are no hollows to hold water, and enough decent topsoil for roots to get into.
We lift the old surface, rotavate, remove the rubbish, screen or import topsoil where there isn't enough, and roll the graded bed before a single roll goes down. Turf is laid stretcher-bond with tight butt joints, rolled, and watered in before we leave, with a watering schedule you can actually follow.
- Old lawn or surface stripped and carted away
- Ground rotavated, de-stoned and weed-treated where needed
- Screened topsoil imported and graded to remove hollows
- Cultivated turf laid stretcher-bond, joints butted tight
- Rolled, watered in, and a first-fortnight watering plan left with you
